I'm Dreaming...

About built-ins lately. Of all shapes and sizes, to hold books and pretty things. Here are the pictures that are inspiring me lately;

I love the look of these, but can't even begin to imagine having enough stuff to fill and decorate them! However, they are lovely to look at, don't you think?

Covet: Arches

Before we moved into this house, we lived in a rented duplex that was a Victorian farmhouse. It was really nothing special inside, but my renovation-crazy mind dreamed of fixing it up to highlight some of the original features that were still left; specifically the arches in the hallways. To this day, arches are on the top of my list of coveted architectural features in a home:

Aren't they fabulous? Unfortunately I am beginning to think that this design feature is hard to find in my neighborhood, but so are houses these days (nothing to feed my MLS/house-stalking hobby!). What feature of a home could you not live without?

New Kicks

I have been coveting Swedish Hasbeens for a while now, something about the natural materials and wood sole appeals to me. I also liked the fact that they looked better with age, and can be cared for with olive oil and sandpaper (cool, huh?!). So on our last trip to Toronto, my lovely family bought me some as a late mother's day present...

Surprisingly enough, they are really lightweight and comfortable, and the wooden sole is cool to the touch. The care booklet claims that if you take care of these, you can pass them on to your daughters. Since I have two daughters, should I get a second pair? We'll see!

Oh Matte Black, You've Done it Again...

Why is it I can't get out of IKEA without spending a few hundred dollars, and yet my favourite purchase is this 2.99 watering jug? Love the matte black finish and the curvy shape of it. Anyone else excited for the new PS collection to arrive in Canada?
Oh, and my other new favourite things, from H&M...
Hope you had a great long weekend!

Cabinet Obsessed

Sorry about the late post today, my son told me at the very last minute about an assembly at his school (typical of that boy, too cool to invite his Mom). You are probably all aware of my storage obsession, but I've come to realize that I just love cabinets (strange, I know). Maybe because I grew up in a house full of found, beautiful, chippy cabinets that the look seemed to grow on me. I was always under the impression that the shabby cabinet was out of style, but recently I've been noticing a re-appearance in Scandinavian-inspired, or even industrial settings...

I could buy every one. At the moment I am on the hunt for some vintage cabinets for the following uses; a wardrobe in my room and a shoe cabinet (I tried an open bookshelf but I need that mess behind drawers). A good excuse to go to all the fabulous antique fairs this summer!

String

Planete Deco

Ffffound!

My DZ

Love is all you need

I have been coveting one of these shelves for a while (even just a little pocket one), but they are impossible to find in Canada and the shipping is too much from the states. Anyone know a secret source?

Dream House

Romantic, light and grand, this just might be the perfect apartment. Nice to know what one can get if they could get their mitts on five and a half million. Still, I could look at it all day! For sale on Bolaget:

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Mama Needs Some New Shoes

I have to admit, my fashion sense has gone downhill since I've had kids. Not saying I don't pine after the occasional dress online, but I'm a pretty frugal person and usually end up buying the clothes on the under 20 dollar rack. A quick glance at my feet yesterday confirmed that I am in a dire need of a shoe makeover, before someone nominates me for one of those Oprah "mom stuck in a rut" shows (although a makeover would be gratefully received!). I have an eye on a few beauties this season, so at least my feet will be in style:

I could go on and on. Are there any other Mamas out there thrilled that "flatforms" are in?
