A Little Spring Cleaning and Re-Arranging

Sorry about the late post today, Internet has been in and out this morning. On a good note, we have had an unusually warm start to spring, which has inspired me to clean things up a bit! First Holly's room, which has proven to be quite a challenge considering its small size. I wanted to give her a little floor space to play. Last week, in the midst of gloomy weather, I had no inspiration to clean, and sadly her room looked like this:

The last picture shows the "dead corner" where all her toys were hidden. It just wasn't working, and I felt that if I pushed the bed into that corner there would be more floorspace to play:

This is that awkward corner where the bed is placed. I definitely need to do some sort of wall treatment on the length of that wall (it is so boring over there) and maybe a headboard of some sort...

Not bad, but it is a work in progress. I still need to hang the curtains I am working on (with the cute Michael Miller fabric) and add a lamp for her somewhere for reading. That little bird cage needs a makeover too, just not sure what to do with it. Thoughts?

The Switcharoo...

Are you like me? The house is in disarray, floors haven't been washed in weeks, and yet you are bored enough to do this:

A Cheery Switch-a-roo

Sometimes all it takes to see your house from a new perspective is a little furniture re-arranging. When I was little I used to enjoy switching around my parent's house; every time my parents went on a date I would recruit my little sister to help me haul couches across the room and clean and polish floors (the poor girl); I don't know what it was about that act that made the house seem so brand new to me!
While I have not attempted any furniture moving as of late, Henry's old rug needed a new home as it could no longer stay in his room (his stuva system could not open on top of it). Best place for it to go? The playroom!
Remember the old rug? it seemed a little out of place in there....
I still like that rug though, it is doing a nice job cozying up the living room for the cooler weather! I feel like the new rug adds even more cheer to an already cheerful room:

Which do you prefer?
