Ever see a product that takes you back to being a kid? I recently had that experience, and $1.50 couldn't stop me from getting the same thing for Holly. Here's what was waiting for her Valentine's day morning:
I'm not big on giving my kids candy, but I love getting them a special treat Valentine's morning (I keep it under $5). When I saw these bottles, they brought me right back to piggy tails and crooked bangs! I mean, they are the exact same.
So fun! I'm willing to let go of the juice in a baby bottle thing, it didn't seem to affect my parenting skills. Just goes to show how really old this product is...and still, Holly (and Henry) had the same reaction when the milk "magically" disappears! oooo! ahhhh.....
And yes, I am warming up the sewing machine (no judging) I made this baby diaper the night before using two pieces of felt lying around and some velcro. Holly doesn't mind the crooked stitch...I definitely need the practice since I am going to try pinch pleat drapes using pleat tape and this easy looking tutorial. Wish me Luck!

Indecision...
Ever find an inspiration photo for a room that is a complete game-changer, a turn in the opposite direction of where you were headed? And then you start to doubt every last design decision you have made up until that point? Yeah, this happens to me, all the time. Like this week, when I saw this sweet little room...I mean, it is perfect...
No, I am not going to paint all my floors white, although that is tempting. What I am referring to is the wallpaper; that soft teal green, the pattern, would be absolutely amazing in a little girls room. It got me thinking that although maybe I couldn't afford to run out and buy all new things for Holly's room, maybe a feature wall was exactly what she needed. So, I scoured the net for some inspiration...
Something to think about...

Holly's Vintage -Eclectic Style
I should really call this post "whatever-is-pink-and-girly-at-a-garage-sale" style; I finally put some personal touches in Holly's room (and a few Christmas decorations too!). I must admit, nothing in Holly's room is matchy or belongs to a particular style, but that is the way Holly herself is most mornings and it seems to work for her! I am loving how cozy her little corner is shaping up:
A lot of things happen when you piece together a room on a budget 1. It is shaping up way less modern than if I had an unlimited budget to work with and 2. Way more gold accents have appeared than I would have normally chosen myself. I really love the gold and soft pink which is surprising!
This is where I need some help though, while normally you would choose fabrics and patterns before designing a room, now I need to find fabrics that will go with this scheme. Any suggestions? I think some curtains will add softness to the other side of the room where it is lacking...

A Tea Cozy
I don't know what it is about having a girl, but it brings out my urge to sew. I have never been great at it, but it is something that I always want to do more of, so when Leila and I found this great Micheal Miller fabric at Len's Mill Store (a crazy shop where you can buy just about anything!), both of us had to have a yard of it, even with no project in mind. I have always needed a tea cozy, but since I would be sewing without a pattern I felt a little practice would be useful...and since Holly is such a girly-girl I felt she would appreciate a tea cozy of her own!
So funny, right? I would have loved something like this as a little girl as I loved to pretend just about anything...
I absolutely adore this fabric, even after Leila discovered it is a Christmas fabric. It is the perfect Kelly green...
For the pattern, I used a half bowl to trace four pieces and sewed in some craft batt to give it some form. I am pretty happy with it, but it is clear I need to perfect my use of bias tape before attempting my own! As for Holly, once she discovered it wasn't a hat, she was pleased to be able to serve up hot tea just like at Papa's house...
